    1. Harnett County Opioid Task Force Holds Quarterly Meeting and Approves Key Funding Initiatives
      October 16, 2025 – Lillington, NC

      The Harnett County Opioid Task Force convened for its official meeting on October 16, marking a significant step forward in the county’s ongoing efforts to combat the opioid crisis. The meeting brought together local partners from healthcare, emergency services, and public health to collaborate on strategies aimed at prevention, treatment, and recovery.

      During the meeting, the Task Force approved funding for several important initiatives designed to enhance local response and support services:

      • MOUD Training – $1,000 was approved to provide training for five pharmacists in the administration of injectable medication-assisted treatment, expanding access to lifesaving care.

      • Community Paramedics – $10,550 was allocated for the purchase of PORT (Post Overdose Response Team) safety kits to better equip paramedics serving high-risk individuals.

      • Health Department –$40,000 was approved to support Naloxone distribution over a two-year period, increasing availability of this critical overdose-reversal medication across Harnett County.

      The Harnett County Opioid Task Force will continue to meet regularly to coordinate local efforts, expand education and prevention programs, and ensure that resources are effectively deployed where they are needed most.
